Guns
The guns the club owns and uses
The club has 9 different shotguns available for use, which can be taken out at any time by one of the authorised committee members. The club also provides eye and ear protection and cleaning kits.
Students with their own guns can store them in a separate private cupboard - contact the general manager of the students union for details.
Beretta 686E 12 bore
The main gun used by the club, 6 new 686E's were very generously donated by B.C. de Zille. An excellent all-rounder, the club owns 28" and 30" barrel versions.
Beretta Silver Pigeon 20 bore
20 bore shotguns fire smaller cartridges and are lighter than 12 bores, making them ideal for many of our female shooters and those not used to a heavy gun.
Fabarm Axis 20 bore
Our newest gun, bought in 2010 to extend the range available to our 20 bore shooters.
Beretta AL391 Urika Semi-Automatic 12 bore, "Horton"
This gun was purchased in 2008 for use primarily by beginners. Semi-Automatics give less recoil due to the force being absorbed in loading the next round. There is also only one barrel, which gives a consistent pattern at close range. This makes the gun good for those learning skeet.
This gun was named "Horton" in 2009 after a graduating long-time club member, Remy Horton.
